Station Mall Security Guard

Role Impact:

Station Mall Security is a 24 hour, 7 days per week operation. Starting with a smile, the security guards at Station Mall are committed to providing its customers with all the information, courtesy, and care that they require during their visit. Reporting to the Security Supervisor, the primary duty is to make and keep safe the entire Station Mall property while working in partnership with other departments and mall merchants. You will receive extensive training, gain hands-on experience, and enjoy a professional and positive work environment.

What you will deliver:

  • To present yourself in a professional manner and act in the best interests of the company and its tenants at all times;
  • To be co-operative and supportive of the merchants of Station Mall, employees in all departments in the operations of the property;
  • To be aware of situations that could negatively affect a customer’s shopping experience and handle in a logical, proactive, and non-aggressive manner;
  • To document all issues as required (i.e. accident forms, occurrence reports);
  • To patrol the mall and ensure smooth traffic flow by removing unwanted obstacles from common areas;
  • To ensure the property is maintained safely (i.e. notify and assisting the maintenance department when there may be increased or dangerous ice conditions around the property, notify cleaners of any spills);
  • To ensure all equipment used are properly maintained;
  • To have a good working knowledge of the property lock-up procedures, Trespass to Property Act, emergency/fire protocol, and police dispatch procedures;
  • To maintain safety and proper use of the parking lot;
  • To be aware of how, what, and when to administer aid to the sick or accident victims;
  • To carry out duties as outlined by the Security Supervisor and any duties specified by Mall Management;

What you need to succeed:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Must have a valid Ontario security guard license and current criminal record check;
  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of Law and Security, Police Foundations, Justice Studies, similar courses, or a related field is an asset;
  • Previous experience as security, law enforcement, military, or similar fields is an asset;
  • First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS certificates is an asset;
